Description
Part Description:
For sanitary fittings used primarily in the food processing industry, there are a dozen or more designs that have been developed independently around the world. One of the most common in our market are clamp fittings, also referred to as tri-clamp or tri-clover fittings, which use a clamp and gasket to join two identical flange fittings.
Note: G53S Short Hose Shanks are designed for gravity or suction service only. For higher temperature applications, a silicone gasket is recommended. Teflon® gaskets are also available, but do not seal as well and should not be used with bolt clamps.
Did You Know?
Users may run into unusual sanitary fitting designs, especially on imported machinery. If you are still unsure what type of connection you have, please contact a member of our team directly. Other types of sanitary connections that appear less commonly include:
- I-Line fittings, which use a clamp and gasket to join a male face flange with a feamel face flange.
- Q-Line fittings, which use an I-Line clamp but to join two matching flanges.
- John Perry fittings, which are similar to Bevel Seat connections but have a different sealing profile.
- APC fittings, which use standard clamps that can couple two matching flanges with a gasket but can also couple a flange to a threaded male using an Acme nut.
- DIN 11851 Imperial fittings, which feature a European style bevel seat with a rounded thread form.
- RJT Ring Joint Type fittings, which are another European style fittings with a British Witworth thread.
- SMS couplings, which feature a six slotted nut and rounded thread form.
