Short shanks provide economical hose connections for water discharge lines. In many applications, they have been replaced by cam-lock style couplings, due to the positive sealing and ease of connection features that cam-locks provide. Although we have gradually phased out the plated iron short shanks, we do continue to offer a limited selection as well as brass short shank couplings which are commonly used in the fire hose industry for adapting to international fire hose fittings.
