The Lochinvar & A.O. Smith 100110266 Aluminum Anode Rod 0.750 DIA is a safeguarding part that is installed in water heaters in order to avoid corrosion of the tank. Constructed from aluminum, the rod draws corrosive materials in the water to itself and thus gradually erodes to preserve the metal lining of the tank. This process serves to add a longer life to usage of water heater as the rusting process and general deterioration is slowed, This anode rod is used every five years to ensure the system is functioning properly, tanks does not have to be replaced, and to keep the water free from any accumulation of corrosion in the water tank.
